It was once a fishing village and banana port but has now blossomed into one of Jamaica’s finest travel destinations. Ocho Rios Jamaica is arguable the best resort town in Jamaica because of its many natural attractions.

Situated on the northern coast of Jamaica, Ocho Rios found itself in middle of two contrasting tourists resort towns, the spirited city Montego Bay and the picturesque town of Port Antonio. The name “Ocho Rios” has two likely meanings which originated from Spanish background. The first being “Eight Rivers” (Ocho Rios is the Spanish term for” Eight Rivers”) and the second is “las chorreras” which means spouts because the town is known to housed many waterfalls.

There are countless activities in Ocho Rios to be indulged in during a vacation that assures an unforgettable stay in this resort town. In fact, there will not be enough time to explore the many activities and so it is highly likely that after your vacation you will be tempted to plan another. Some of the Ocho Rios activities include, deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, tennis, golf, polo, horseback riding and of course there are many fantastic beaches and attractions such as, Dolphins Cove, Mystic Mountain and Secret Falls.

Additionally, one of Jamaica’s best known attractions is the Dunn’s River Falls also known as Ocho Rios Falls. Cascading over a number of rocks down to the sea, this exotic waterfall is simply amazing. The entire falls is about 600 feet of cascading pristine water which rejuvenate the body, mind and soul. The best way to enjoy this splendid Ocho Rios falls is to start at the bottom and climb to the top.
