Negril Jamaica
With lighter
traffic than Montego Bay or Ocho Rios and no cruise ship port Negril is
certainly laid back. Situated on the western end of Jamaica it is rather easy
to navigate because it’s a one main road tourist resort town that stretch from
east to west.
The charm of Negril is found on its beaches, in its bars and at its hotel and
not in attractions which is few and far. The town is known for one notable
historic site, its lighthouse, and a few natural attractions such as the Royal
Palm Reserves.
Stretching
for 7 miles (11 km), the long white-sand beach in Negril is arguable Jamaica’s
finest. It starts at Bloody Bay north of the town and continues along the long
Bay all the way to the cliffs on the southern edge of the town. Some stretches
remain undeveloped, but not many. Along the main stretch of beach the sand is
public to the high water mark, so a nonstop line of visitors and vendors parade
from end to end.
Walk is sprinkled with many good beach bars and open –air restaurants, some of which charge a small fee to use their beach facilities. Bloody Bay is lined with large all-inclusive resorts, and these sections are mostly private. Jamaica’s best-known nude beach, at Hedonism II, is always among the busiest; only resort guests or day-pass holders may sun here.
